Caninha was created to celebrate the vibrant Brazilian community on the Gold Coast and the irresistible appeal of a well-made Caipirinha. The name 'Caninha' (pronounced Can-in-ya) is a playful nod to Brazilian slang for their native rum, while fitting perfectly with our dog-themed rum collection. Just as champagne has its protected origin, cachaça can only be made in Brazil - so we created this Australian cane spirit that captures the same bold flavors.
We follow traditional Brazilian techniques using fresh sugar cane juice instead of molasses, sourced from local farms at Jacobs Well. After fermentation and distillation, the spirit is aged for about a month in stainless steel vats to allow the raw, bold flavors to meld perfectly. The result is an authentic-tasting cane spirit that's perfect for tropical cocktails.
